Flip-flops Fiasco

Published by angietawater at 6:11 am under Life with Dogs Edit This

I love shoes almost as much as I love dogs. I wear flip-flops year round at home, so it’s perfect that I live in Texas.

As soon as the nearest Old Navy store puts its rainbow of flip-flops on display every spring, I fill my shopping bag with them in all the basic and fun colors that my husband allows me to get. Thankfully they’re very affordable.

Unfortunately, my dogs also love shoes, especially my flip-flops. I have lost many pairs of flip-flops — and other shoes — to my dogs’ destructive sprees.

I found my favorite hot pink pair under my bed late last summer in hundreds of pieces. It must have taken my “bad dogs” a long time to tear those up. My yellow pair didn’t make it through spring. The bright blue pair? I found part of the straps in the bathroom, behind the cat litter box. I’m still questioning the cat about it!

Lately, I’ve gotten smarter about where I leave my shoes when I slip them off. I’m getting faster too because I’ve managed to rescue at least one or two before they’re destroyed.

I’ve learned to wear my “good” flip-flops when I go out. As soon as I get home, they go up in my closet. At home, I allow myself to wear my leftover “pairs” of flip-flops.

Currently, I am wearing an olive green one on my right foot and a beige one on my left foot, or is it the green one on my left foot and the beige one on my right foot? It doesn’t really matter, I’m at home in my flip-flops with my sweet baby dogs around me.

Life is good.
