Dogs and cats

Published by angietawater at 3:16 am under Life with Dogs Edit This

Dogs and cats can coexist in the same household, though sometimes I’ve had my doubts.

At my house, we have big dogs, medium dogs and little dogs. We also have several cats and a couple of pot-bellied pigs. Thankfully we live in the country so our animals have lots of space to run and play.

It’s not uncommon to see one of our dogs chasing a cat or a cat running after a dog. That’s how they play together. This game of chase can keep them entertained for hours or until one of the two gets tired. The longer the game goes on, the more players join in. It’s really fun to watch.

The other night when I came in from work I found our “momma” cat asleep next to our Chow. It was the sweetest thing. They both opened their eyes and looked at me and went right back to sleep.

Of course not all dogs tolerate cats this well. It really depends on the dog’s disposition, training and prey drive.

You don’t have to choose between owning a dog or a cat, if you’re willing to put in the time, you can have both.
