I worked in rescue for many years, and usually we didn't encourage dogs being adopted together. Occassionally, however, two dogs came into the shelter together who had such an obvious devotion to each other, we just couldn't stand to separate. Thanks for sharing your sweet story!

Thanks for posting this! It's a good reminder. I'm usually vigilant about checking my dog Maggie when we come in for a walk, but I recently found one in the thick fur under her collar. It looked like it had been there for awhile. It's always a concern for me because we live in an area where Lyme disease is an issue.

I think of "Toy Story" when I read your post. As soon as we leave, they start in their little secretive world doing what they do when we are not home, which in your case seems to be shredding pillows! Mine hide things under the kids' bed, which is to scary to go peer under!

My little Cocoa, a Pomeranian, is scared too by lightning and thunder, or even now, of just rain. She wants someone to hold her and prefers to be on a bed or a couch during the storm. Thanks so much for the hints!

It sounds like Teddy has some separation anxiety and wants to "get back at you" for leaving her alone overnight. If her litter box is clean and she still uses the bathroom on the carpet when you're gone, you can pretty much bet she's mad at you for leaving her.

So what is it called when your pet misbehaves (using the bathroom on the carpet, or other things she knows she is not supposed to do) after being left alone? Teddy does this if I'm gone more than a day.
